Code of ethics
Last updated: 2026-10-10
Scovago aims to be a clean, transparent Italian search engine open to everyone, including the youngest. These are the commitments we hold ourselves to.
1. Legality
We do not index or show illegal content. We exclude sites with child sexual abuse material, gratuitous violence, incitement to hatred, terrorism, sale of illegal drugs or weapons, scams and phishing. We cooperate with the authorities and invite you to report abuse to the Italian Postal Police (www.commissariatodips.it).
2. Protection of minors
Safe search is always on and cannot be turned off. Pages reported as involving minors are hidden immediately pending human review, we show no ads for sensitive searches and, when someone searches for self-harm content, we offer help lines instead of results.
3. Privacy by default
We do not profile, do not sell data, do not keep search history and do not use tracking cookies. We ask only for the data we really need.
4. Transparency of results and advertising
Results are ranked by relevance to the search text, not by payment. Ads are always separate and labelled "Ad", and the pricing model is decided by the administrator and explained to advertisers. We do not sell positions in organic results.
5. Fairness and respect for webmasters
We respect robots.txt and the noindex tag, we are gentle with sites' servers, and we let owners verify their domain, submit a sitemap and request removal of their content. New sites are approved after a human check.
6. Reliability of local data
Map listings are published only after the existence of the company has been verified (VAT number, official certified email and an administrator's check), to avoid invented businesses.
7. Security and accountability
We protect accounts with strong passwords and optional two-step verification, limit abuse and log administrators' actions. When we make mistakes we correct them promptly.
8. Accessibility and inclusion
We want a site everyone can use: clear interface, light/dark mode, compatibility with the main devices and browsers, installable as an app, in several languages.
9. How to report
If you think Scovago is not respecting these principles write to privacy@su24.it or use the Report illegal content page.
